Dr. Joshua Swanson

Dr. Swanson was born and raised in the Stafford/Fredericksburg area. He has an extensive history in the dental field, working in the family business as a dental lab technician all through high school and college, and then as a dental assistant, working throughout his collegiate career.
Dr. Swanson is an alumnus of Brooke Point High School in Stafford County, Virginia. He completed his undergraduate education at Virginia Tech, where he earned a BS in Biology. He then continued his education at The University of Louisville School of Dentistry in Louisville, KY, for four years.
Dr. Swanson has been married to his high school sweetheart, Melissa, since 2004. They have a son, Fate, and two daughters, Scarlett and Savannah. The entire family are all huge Hokie football fans (Go Hokies!) and enjoy serving through their church.
Dr. Swanson remains committed to staying up-to-date with the latest practices, materials, and technology in the ever-evolving field of dentistry. With this in mind, Dr. Swanson maintains a rigorous schedule of continuing education, giving him advanced skills in areas such as orthodontics, sedation dentistry, implants, and cosmetics. In addition, he maintains membership in such organizations as the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentists, the Richmond Dental Society, Spear Education, DOCS Education, and the United States Dental Institute.
Dr. Swanson has also volunteered his time and expertise in Mission of Mercy (MOM) projects, as well as Donated Dental Services (DDS) serving the disadvantaged throughout the state of Virginia since 2004. He has been dedicated to working with a great group of doctors as a part of the Denture Team, and now leads the Partial Denture Team for the Virginia MOM Projects.
Through all of Dr. Swanson’s different experiences, he has arrived at a single conclusion. He and his family have been truly blessed by God, Virginia is his home, and his goal is to serve the oral health needs of the community he loves to the very best of his ability and be a blessing to others.
